Rambling On (2007-03-31 - 11:24 a.m.)

22 days since my last entry. Shame on me.

I've been busy playing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, a game I got for my birthday.

There are significant things that have happened recently.

Rachel is 18. That was one of the hardest things I've ever typed. Rachel is 18. Our baby girl that I so clearly remember toddling up to preschool with her little lunchbox all those years ago...is an adult.

Well...she can vote. And buy lottery tickets and cigarettes and porn. But she can't get drunk. Whew. Thank goodness.

No sarcasm in that last paragraph. Nope. None at all.

Christi had arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday (March 27). Today (Friday), she says her knee already feels better than it did before the surgery. Hallelujah!! Maybe the constant pain in which she has been for over 6 months will be gone. At least for a few years. Then they will "scope" the knee again, then maybe they can replace it.

They won't replace the knee until she is at least 50. They say that knee replacements only last about 10 years and you can only do it a limited number of times. Pft. Why not just replace the whole leg? C'mon! This is the 21st century, for Pete's sake!! I mean...WHERE ARE OUR "JETSONS" CARS???

(If you are under, say 30 or so, just ignore that last sentence...you have no idea who or what "The Jetsons" were.)

Anyway, Christi's knee is much better. So life should change for her. And our impending trip to Boston should be much more fun.

Speaking of Boston...baseball season starts (HAH! You knew I couldn't type an entire entry without making a reference to baseball, didn't you?) in...2 MORE DAYS!! Waaaahoooo!!!!

And Opening Day at what is now called Rangers Ballpark is less than a week away. Stephie and I will be going along with my Mom and Dad, who, even though they really love the Rangers, have never been to this ballpark. So we are taking them to Opening Day for my Mother's birthday, which happens to fall on Easter this year.

And my arrival at Fenway Park is something like...hang on a sec...92 days away. No one reading this has even a fraction of a clue what a significant event this is in my life. Except for maybe Racecar.

Ok. I'll shut up about that until later. But keep watching, because I'll be posting entries during that weekend...I think our rental has high speed or wifi...not sure which. But you will hear from me that weekend somehow.

I guess that's all for now....Oh, except that one of my "buddies" has linked to this site called Goodreads, which looks to be a lot of fun for those of us who read a lot.

If you don't read a lot, you should. Start now, please. It will make the world a better place.

TTFN, y'all
