Relient K and Tom Thumb (2003-04-20 - 8:12 a.m.)

Yeah, I know, it's been a long time since I've been here. Not that it matters, because I don't think anyone reads this, anyway.

Rachel and I went to Six Flags yesterday for the "See Spot Rock Tour" concert, featuring Relient K. We saw a couple of other really good bands, too. Sanctus Real opened. We had never heard of them before, and they were really good. Next, we were forced to endure John Rueben. He is a white rapper. He is mildly funny, but mostly pathetic. In fact, his "accompanist", DJ Manwell was way more entertaining than he was, doing some flashy turntable work and even breakdancing. I also find doing "crotch-grabs" at a Christian concert totally unacceptable. Pillar came up after Rueben. They rocked. Kind of like POD, they are mostly metal with a combination of singing and rapping. They sing more than POD, though. Heard a couple of songs that I had heard on the radion that I did not realize was them. Finally Relient K came up, but they didn't play long enough, because they actually weren't the headlining band (Supertones headlined). Relient K did a great job, as usual, covering a few measures of Lavine's "Sk8ter Boi" and M&M's current hit (without the language, of course). They played "Pressing On," "Softer to Me," a new song from their new cd that I don't have yet, those two covers, "Down In Flames," "For the Moments I Feel Faint," another new song about girls and mood rings, and closed with "Sadie Hawkins Dance." It was a fine performance. We left then, since were there to see Relient K, as was apparently more than half of the audience, because there was a mass exodus before the Supertones came on. Kind of funny, actually. Relient K SO should have been the headliners!!

On another subject, I have a question. Why does anyone in their right mind shop at Tom Thumb????? Good grief! They are higher than a convenience store!! That is ridiculous! Let's hear it for Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets.

Oh, well, Happy Easter to anyone who might stumble across this. Gotta run.
