Just a couple of quick Bible verses that I found inspirational over the last couple of days.

Psalm 9:9-10

The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

This is a promise of "unforsakenness." I think I made up a word. It is a precious promise. The Lord will not forsake those who seek him. Plain and simple.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

This is a famous passage, well-quoted throughout most of my life. But in spite of its "over-usedness" (Ha! Another made up word!), it is still a great passage and a great promise. Key to it is the understanding that our understanding is pretty worthless. Implied is that if we lean on our own understanding, our paths will be quite crooked. Been there; done that. Didn't like it.

It is hard to trust in the Lord. So very hard. But we must. Our very lives depend upon it.
