2010--Great Year So Far (January 04, 2010 - 6:53 p.m.)

Let's see. The last entry was December 18. We've had some pretty good weeks since then.

Christmas went pretty well, but we had a meltdown on Christmas morning. But there were some extenuating circumstances behind that one, so I really can't blame Steph for that one. The Christmas Eve gathering at our house went pretty well.

Stephanie was very happy with her iPod Touch that she got for Christmas. I was also very happy with the Sony Reader that I got for Christmas. :-)

Steph has been taking the enzymes before every meal for almost a month now. We believe that they are helping her. She says that they are, and she is certainly having a less troublesome time going to the bathroom ("getting it out" as she calls it). You see, she has suffered from severe constipation most of her life.

The best part is that, even though there have been some minor meltdowns, we have now had 8 days since the last one! 8 DAYS!! And the last several that we had were relatively short (less than an hour, probably, when they used to last several hours...the one that almost got her in jail went on for most of that Saturday).

I realize that we also started some new medications about the same time that we started the enzymes, but I believe that they are helping her more than the meds. Mainly because the current meds aren't a whole lot different than the previous ones. We replaced Abilify with Risperdal, and added some speed. Just kidding...sort of. Adderall...very low dosage. Anyway...

Bottom line, much better behavior, currently. She even just finished her period, and post-period, over the last several months, has been the worst time of all.

Today was her first day back at school, and she had a great day. But, as one of her teachers so observantly noted, she's never had a bad Monday. So...we're hoping that this will continue through the week. I'm being optimistic. I think it will.

TTFN, y'all!
