Jon Daniels, "Boy-Man-ager" (2006-11-23 - 8:22 a.m.)

First things first:

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Now, it's venting time.

"Boy-man"-ager, Jon Daniels and stupid owner Tom Hicks have struck again. The Texas Rangers top-notch management team has let Gary Matthews, Jr. get away.

The best center fielder that this team has possibly ever had is now an L.A. Angel.

BOLLOCKS!!!

Out of all the players that filed free agency this year, Matthews is the one that they should have done whatever it took to keep. I'm sorry to see Mark DeRosa go, too, but Matthews was a key player who had a playing spot sewn up.

And he's gone.

I'm guessing we are going to see the King of Strikeouts, Brad Wilkerson, lumbering about in left field again this year.

I guess baseball general managers are no different than corporate managers. You see, I have this theory that when people make the transition from normal, everyday, working people to upper management, there is a magic door that they walk through that sucks out all their brains. Why else would they be so darned stupid??

Sigh.

Oh, well. We will just have to suck it up and see what happens. I'm guessing they will probably stick Frank Catalanotto in center field. They have just signe him back to the team from Toronto. He had a good year last year, at last at the plate.

There are also rumors (but then, there were rumors last year) that have Manny Ramirez being interested in Texas or L.A. Angels.

!!!!!!!!!!!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!

I can dream, eh? Dear God, please let Manny Ramirez come to Texas!!! Please????

HAHAHAHAH.......

Hm.....Racecar might never speak to me again if that happens...

Also...have I mentioned here that I believe that free agency is the worst thing that ever happened to professional sports?? Well I do believe that. It has just about totally ruined the game. You can't be loyal to both a team and a player any more. The player won't be with your team for more than four or five years, then, POOM (as John Madden would say), they're gone.

Biggest example in recent years? Johnny Damon and the Boston Red Sox. Now Johnny plays for the Evil Empire. So now we Red Sox fans have to hate Johnny Damon. That was painful. Still is. That was made somewhat easier by the fact that he in no way resembles Johnny Damon any more. He looks like all the other Yankees.

Ugh. I typed "Yankees." Ugh.

OK. That's it for now.

Next entry will be about a Dennis Jernigan concert/worship that Stephanie and I had the pleasure of attending last Saturday night.

Oh, and I'm going to see Imogen Heap with some friends tomorrow night in Dallas.

TTFN, y'all!!
