I know that sad feeling you had when you saw those kids. I finally told myself that the next time I see an adult not putting a child in a car seat or in a booster seat with a seat belt, I would go and speak with the parent. You know there are alot of parents who don't do that, by the way. I did start speaking to the parents, I always ask why they don't use the car seat even if it is just a mile away from home. You know statistically that is when most accidents occur. I know it is hard to get involved but I just decided one day about 5 years ago to start doing it. I also started way long before that about leaving animals in a car. One time I even broke a window to save a little dog, and I did save her. I had bottled water in our truck and I sent my son back to get some water. Yupe I choose to do the right thing and deal with the consequences. I had a crowd around me, I had the law enforcement there, and the person didn't charge me. Everyone was just glad someone did something, because they also noticed the dog. Anyhoo, I just thought that I would share that. I just feel better inside when I try to do something that could save a life. =^..^=

I would have lost my youngest daughter and her high school friend on Christmas day the first year she had he drivers license had I not been the "nagging" mom that never stooped saying" Buckle up!." It became habit and saved their life when the Blazer she was driving slid out of control on black ice. Years later, my own rule NEVER driving without a seatbelt saved my life when my Blazer went over the mountain. I am a firm believer seat belts save lives. My niece lost her boy friend during the first years of trying to enforce seat belt laws; his parents were following them to the beach in their car. (How horrible to witness your child's loss of life back then because we just didn't know better to teach our young.) A tie rod broke and all the kids went flying out of the car, two lost their lives, two were injured but spared, my niece was one spared. I'll never forget, and from that day forward I was never with out a seat beltNEVER any of my children while I was in the car. I wish those that resist the law would at least teach their children, installing a habit while they are young. One life saved is so worth it. Sandyz
