I have to agree with you about milk. I now drink soy milk and there really is a difference. Since I have my multi-grain bagels made special for me, there is less gluten product and it is more organic. I didn't know your daughter was autistic. May I ask, how old she is and how is she doing. I taught special education for grades 7-12 for 16 years. I sure hope that they are doing alot of modicfications so that her strengths shine through. So over the years, having read alot of research about a number of ideas concerning an autistic individual. I believe that the so called experts really don't know a whole lot about. So I have empathy for your daughter, you and your family. Take care. =^..^=

Hey! i thought your entry was fascinating. I agree with you on the gluten definitely (I personally am a fan of Ezekiel 4 *something like that* bread!) However, i'm not sure I completely agree with your stance on dairy. While the stuff injected into the cow isn't great, and it shows through the milk, i think that dairy shouldn't be forbidden per se. I admit, i don't know a whole lot, but I thought the book "maker's diet" has an interesting take on american diets today. It might be worth a read.

Hi, sorry it's been so long since I've commented. I have just been so tied up I'm just now going back and reading everyone's diaries. I didn't know that they prescribed those kinds of drugs for Autism. My son has ADHD and we have tried everything. We tried the diets, the organic supplements. You name it we tried it. Unfortunately these drugs are the only thing that help him. We have tried to wean him off but he says he feels so much better when he takes them. He is more confident he can control his impulses better. He can focus and do better in school. Without he has a really had time. I'm hoping that in time he can grow out of his need for it. But for now I really believe it helps him more than hurts. If there were some natural supplement or diet that would work I would totally use it. Oh and I LOVE flax seeds and flax seed oil. I put crushed flax on hot cereal, in soup, in just about anything. The oil is fab when you sub it for butter on veggies. It has a wonderful nutty taste. My kids don't know the difference. I also use it in salad dressings. So good and good for you.
