I'm going to give a few more links for autism information today.
Put Children First is a site that delves into an infamous conference in which the government actually admitted that they knew that there was a link between thimerasol and autism. Here is an opening statement from the site.
PutChildrenFirst.org was founded by parents to let the world know that the Centers For Disease Control (CDC), a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, is covering-up the relationship between a near-tripling of vaccinations for our children in the 1990s and the epidemic of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders that began at exactly the same time.
This conference is simply known as "Simpsonwood." Say that to almost any parent of an autistic child and you will probably get an angry expression, if not curse words as a reaction. Anyway, you can check it out at the above link.
Here is a site that explores the dangers of methylphenidate as a treatment of anything. Don't know what "methylphenidate" is? You've probably heard of the brand name. Ritalin. Early in Stephanie's period after diagnosis, we consulted a psychiatrist. We were determined not to even try Ritalin. This doctor convinced us to try a drug called "Concerta." We gave Stephie about three doses of it before we threw the rest away and cancelled any follow-up appointments after we discovered via the wonderful "inter-webs" that Concerta is just another brand of methylphenidate! And this doctor had her desk covered with proganda from the manufacturer. This makes her, in my eyes, nothing more than a legal "pusher."
I don't want to have totally negative links today, so here's a link about some dietary measures that many people have had success with in working with autistic children. It's called the "GFCF diet," which stands for "Gluten-free/Casien-free." This essentially means no wheat products or dairy products at all. Now I've been a big proponent for years that milk is just flat bad for you, anyway. But more research is showing that the massive amounts of gluten that we consume is not so good for us. We have tried this diet, but are not currently using it. We may return someday. Oh, I almost forgot...Here's the link for The GFCF Dite
Thanks for reading, and I hope that someone might find this stuff useful or informative.
TTFN, y'all!
